The Letter

Last week, K’s godparents had dinner at our house. They’re from Minnesota, elderly, and were visiting Texas because their children live here. They were staying at a friend’s house in Austin and looked him up.  So, we had them over and had a lovely dinner. We made burgers and chicken ka-bobs, and they caught up on their lives, their children and grandchildren, and talked about K’s family a bit as well.

K’s mother passed away about six months after we started dating. I didn’t really get the chance to meet her. We were there, but late.

We got a Thank You letter from his godmother (who was close to her mother), and she said that his mother would have approved of K’s choice. It made me all mushy and gooey.. and a little sad.  We chatted about it a little, and he smiled and said, “I forgot about The Letter.”

“The Letter?”

“Oh yes.. they had full on discussions about the thank you letter being a must. For everything. Dinner, a walk, you name it. Old School, you know.”

I thought it was cute.
